Distance education or distance learning is the technology and the system that aim to provide education to those students who are not physically present in the traditional classroom. Or it can be described in other words as, it is a process of education for those individuals who want to get best possible education outside the traditional classroom or campus. This is now one of the widely used educational methods used in the institutions and universities around the world.

Types of Distance Education:


There are two types of distance education used can be divided as synchronous and asynchronous.

Synchronous technologies are:

* Telephone
* Direct-broadcast satellite
* Internet radio
* Live streaming

Asynchronous technologies are:

* E-mail
* Message board forums
* Print materials

Benefits of Distance Education:


Reduced cost: Distance education is much cost effective than regular course. In this internet age study materials can be send though email which is totally cost effective.

Expanding Access: Many students unable to go for high education because of high cost, sit unavailability, distance of the institution from their home. But distance education erase out all these problems.
